MUSIC, ART AND AUDIO-TAGGING THE REAL WORLD HALSEY BURGUND This presentation will cover an overview of my music and sound art work, including several recent installations and performance projects. I will cover some of the methods I use for garnering participation (collecting voices) from people to create my work as well as some of the technical systems I have developed to support the art. In particular, the Roundware system was developed initially for my installation 'ROUND' at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and has been further developed for additional installations, most recently 'Scapes' at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. Roundware is a participatory audio framework which allows for real-time audio tagging of physical spaces and the distribution and re-presentation of audio over space using mobile devices. Roundware has thus far been used primarily for my artwork, but has also been used as an alternative two-way audio tour in museums, for more direct educational purposes and, intentionally and not, in gaming scenarios.
