Abstract: Successful skill development within a discipline is often best accomplished under the tutelage of one with significant experience. Within the trades, the process of apprenticeship has been successfully employed for centuries, starting in the later Middle Ages, and was traditionally carried out by craft guilds. In the arts, a technique known as the "Master Class" has been widely used to allow up-and-coming artists access to the guidance of a master, often one on one. The IMGD faculty, led by Dean O'Donnell, is planning to organize Master Classes for advanced IMGD students, conducted by seasoned industry professionals. These intense, intimate classes will be offered one night per week for three weeks, with each meeting lasting two hours. Admission to the classes will be limited to about 10 students, and applicants will need to submit application materials, including previous work, and be selected in order to gain access. Please come out and hear about this exciting initiative, and give us your feedback and ideas!
