Abstract: This talk is based on the book 21st Century Game Design by Chris Bateman and Richard Boon. The book asks the questions: How much do we know about the audiences we are designing games for? How much do we know about the _potential_ audiences who are not buying video games? The authors consider various ways of classifying people's preferences, such as Myer Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and their own research into game player types to explain the current limited audience for video games and suggest ways to design games that would appeal to a wider audoence. Come to this talk and you'll learn what kind of a gamer you are, and why you shouldn't be designing games just for players like you.
